Students’ Union Action Support The Homeless
The Bridge (East Midlands), a local charity based on Leicester Road in Loughborough, received 4,300 items of food thanks to the generosity of Loughborough University students heading home for Christmas. Donations of unused food were collected from students living in halls and coordinated by Loughborough Students Union Action with the help of Action Reps from the Halls of Residence.
Food parcels are distributed by The Bridge to local vulnerable and disadvantaged people who are in crisis or experiencing difficulties and need some extra support. In addition to food parcels, The Bridge provides new home starters packs to people who are moving into their first tenancy following a crisis. Items provided include bedding, toaster, cutlery, crockery and a kettle.
Paul Snape, Business Development Manager, said “The charity delivers some fantastic services to those who are homeless or at risk of homelessness in Charnwood, Leicestershire and Rutland. To provide the additional services, including food parcels and starter packs, we rely on donations and are very humbled by the ongoing generosity of the local community.” To support The Bridge’s ‘Help Us Help The Homeless’ Christmas Campaign you can text TBXM06 followed by £1, £2, £3, £4, £5, or £10 to 70070 or visit https://www.justgiving.com/campaigns/charity/thebridgeem/helpthehomeless to make an online donation.Back To Latest News
