Young People’s Services

Building Better Opportunities

What is it?

The Youth Employability Support (YES) Project supports young people, aged 15-24 to take steps towards employment, education and training. The programme is jointly funded by the Big Lottery Fund, through the National Lottery, and the European Social Fund.

The Bridge (East Midlands) is one of nine local organisations delivering the YES Project across Leicester City and Leicestershire, managed and led by Voluntary Action LeicesterShire. Working together means we can offer a range of activities and support services tailored to an individual’s needs, which will help young people to:

  • Believe in themselves
  • Achieve qualifications and learn new skills
  • Prepare for work

How do we help?

For young people with complex needs, an Intensive Young Person’s Support Worker will be allocated to you who will work on a one-to-one support basis and, were required, help to:

  • Find and access suitable accommodation and prevent homelessness
  • Mediate between you and your family
  • Refer and support you to access specialist statutory services
  • Accompany you to appointments
  • Work with you to build your confidence, self-esteem and motivation
  • Work with you to improve your general health and emotional well being

For those young people who do not require intensive support, The Bridge will signpost to the relevant delivery partner within the project.
