The Bridge Supports National Homelessness Campaign
The Bridge (East Midlands) are proud to be one of forty charities supporting national homeless charity Crisis in their open letter to the Government, which has been featured on Sky News.
The letter calls for government approval to implement emergency legislation to end rough sleeping; progress is deemed to be at risk, as the end of Covid-19 measures approaches.
The response to rough sleeping in the pandemic has proven that, with the right resources, we can end homelessness sooner than we had ever imagined.
Crisis' Home for All campaign is calling for both long-term and short-term solutions to be implemented now, before thousands of homeless individuals and families face a return to unstable living conditions.
The open letter to the Government, to which our Chief Officer Peter Davey has contributed, calls for the government to make a number of actions, including ensuring emergency accommodation, protection from eviction through no fault of a tenants own, and suspending the benefit cap for people unablet o return to work for the foreseeable future
