Nita's Story

Nita's Story

Nita was referred to the Moneywise Plus Engagement Team from Healthy Working Futures. Since the death of her husband in 2015, she had struggled with numerous complex issues which had compounded her sense of despair and isolation.

Her late husband had managed the financial affairs leaving Nita with no financial confidence and not knowing how to manage her money. Her household bills at the time were very high and she was struggling to keep up with the payments.

After discussing her needs, it was mutually agreed that a referral to the financial team was most appropriate. Through collaborative and supportive discussion, Nita started to relax and take a more positive outlook. She even wanted to complete further courses in Maths and English.

Shortly after her financial appointment, we received a call from Nita commending our work. She stated that she was feeling less stressed, more confident managing her money and had reduced her water bill by approximately 80%. She attributed this to the holistic, in-depth nature of the support she had received and the collaborative and empowering ethos of the work.

We continue to support Nita as she develops her confidence, both financially and holistically. She hopes to complete courses at Leicester College and has since gained employment.
