Clare's Story

Clare's Story

Clare approached The Bridge for help with Food and Fuel provision after a number of unexpected bills following a sewerage leak at her property.

Her flat was flooded with sewerage from the main drain, damaging the majority of her possessions, in both her bedroom and living room. The carpeting was severely damaged, and the property required deep cleaning and damp treatment due to the flood. Unfortunately Clare did not have home contents insurance, leaving her with a huge bill, struggling to cover the cost of some of her possessions.

Due to this disruption, Clare found herself incurring additional expenses, and with limited income this left her unable to purchase food, gas and electricity, as the repair of the property took priority in order to be liveable.

The Bridge were able to help Clare with an emergency Charnwood Welfare Provision pack consisting of £50 fuel vouchers, and a food parcel to help see Clare through.
