Ben's Story

Ben's Story

Ben approached The Bridge seeking help as he had ended his marriage due to physical and emotional abuse. Prior to this, Ben had a successful career and was hoping to set up his own business.

By the time Ben approached us he was homeless and had being living on the streets for a number of days. We arranged an appointment with the Housing Advice Team who helped him gain accommodation.

Due to not having any basic household items, we completed a referral form so he could access affordable furniture and white goods. We also organised a Starter Pack to help him settle into his flat, including bedding, cutlery, crockery, toaster and a kettle. When Ben moved into his flat, his benefits were sanctioned and he had no funds available for essential items such as food and fuel. We were able to award him electricity and gas vouchers and a food parcel through Charnwood Welfare Provision.

Ben has now settled into his flat and regained employment.
